New features for iOS 14 and not entirely new for Android users

Apple introduced its new iOS 14 firmware, and also talked about new features. Users have already actively begun to upgrade to the new version of the firmware and study in detail new functions, which, oddly enough, have long been presented on the Android OS. The fact that some functions are very similar to each other is not surprising, because competing companies always borrow something from each other and that which soon becomes a very good product must necessarily appear on all devices.

Let's move on to the function that is really borrowed from the Android OS.

"Widgets" feature

This feature has been an advantage of Android since 2008, and now Apple has decided that it is time to give widgets a chance. Now users can easily drag the widgets they need to the home screen of their device.iOS 14 Widgets

"Translator" feature

Apple showed off its new Translate app that can translate speech from 11 languages in real time. This function is also available on Android, Google introduced a new feature of Google Translate to translate speech in real time from 8 languages back in March 2020.

"App Library" feature

The principle of operation of this function is to place applications in groups by categories. This should greatly simplify the storage and search of the applications themselves. This function is very similar to the function on Android, all applications and games can be assembled in convenient "blocks", but there is no possibility of grouping into categories.

Updated application "Apple Maps"

Now, for a number of cities in the USA and China, it is possible to plot routes on the map, and the application will notify about obstacles on the roads (stairs, a fence, a descent, etc.), they also added the designation "bicycle" as a vehicle. Although Google Maps doesn’t tell you about stairs on the roads, the bike was added back in 2010.iOS 14 Maps

"Picture in Picture" function

IOS users will no longer have to close tabs with watching any movie or video to start working with third-party applications. Now everything can be done simultaneously, without stopping viewing, and the window size and location on the screen can be selected independently. As for Android, this feature appeared in Android 8.0 Oreo.iOS 14 Picture-in-Picture

"Emoji Search" function

The new iOS 14 OS began to support the search for the right emoticon by words, you just need to type some word and you will be offered the right emoticon. As you can already understand, this feature has long been introduced on Android.
