The world's first flying taxi was introduced in Germany

Startup Volocopter announced the completion of the VoloCity project - a hybrid of a helicopter and a drone. This project was aimed at creating the world's first air taxi. A test of the new transport will take place in the coming days. As for the characteristics, VoloCity can travel at speeds up to 110 km/h, the flight range is 35 km, the air transport cabin is designed for two people with hand luggage. Instead of the usual helicopter propeller, the developers decided to install 18 rotors with small blades. This solution will help reduce noise during flight. Volocopter engineers said that this prototype is the fourth, and the previous three have passed more than a thousand test flights. The main goal of Volocopter is the opportunity to open the world's first commercial activity related to air transport. At this stage, the startup team is considering key locations for hosting VoloPorts. The development of the so-called VoloCity has been ongoing for 8 years. Over the years, a team of engineers managed to collect €35 million investment. One of the most influential companies were Daimler and Intel. It became known that the testing of the 4th prototype VoloCity will take place by the end of 2019 in Singapore.
